racer x write up on yesterdays race in Mala Sweden

MALA (SWEDEN) – American rider Tucker Hibbert is the FIM Snowcross World Champion 2010. The 25 year old rider from Minnesota won two of three races, Swedish rider Johan Lidman is the Vice-World Champion, Cory Davis from Alaska finished third. This is the great success of the Arctic Cat manufacture.

The event has started on Friday with the opening press conference. There was a big interest for American riders and Swedish National Champion Johan Lidman of course. Already a day before the main day many spectators and journalists attended the event. Riders tried the track for the first time. In Mala there was snowing both days, what made the racing conditions more difficult. But the organizer made a good job on the track. Despite the fact it was snowing all the time, about 10.000 spectators came to see the best snowcross riders in the World on the racing day. The track was ruff, it was getting more difficult in every race.

All of three races were very exciting. In the first race Finnish rider Jussi Honka took the lead in front of Cory Davis. Tucker Hibbert did not have very successful start and he attacked from the back. Also home favorite Emil Ohman was not in front. But they were both riding very fast and risky. Hibbert won and Ohman was second. Swedish rider Viktor Stenman, who was also one of the home favorites for the podium did not finish the first race and already at the beginning he lost chances to finish on the podium.

Before the second race Snowcross World Champion 2008 Emil Ohman had still a chance to fight for the new Title. His dreams disappeared in the third lap, when a crash put him out the race. Tucker Hibbert and Johan Lidman were fighting for the win. Lidman surprised Hibbert in the middle of the race when he overtook the American. Hibbert attacked back and Lidman could not resist. It was the second win for Hibbert, who was very close to take the Title.

In the last race Emil Ohman decided to make the complete attack to take at least the win, if he was already out of fight for the Title. Hibber took the holeshot but this time was not easy to stay on the top. Ohman passed him and was riding too fast for everyone.

Tucker Hibbert is the winner of the FIM Snowcross World Championship. Swedish Champion Johan Lidman was more than happy for the second position. Cory Davis was satisfied for the third position. Emil Ohman missed the podium for three points, finished fourth and his Swedish colleague Jhan Dahlgren was fifth. Hibbert was self confident from the beginning. He said: “I came all over to Sweden and took the World Champion Title, this is great. I knew I am strong but the race was far away from my home and other riders are more used to ride on this track. Fortunately we could bring our snowmobiles with us, what was easier. You can never make other bike the same as yours and that is why it was important to have own bike. This title means a lot to me. I won so many races in United States and now I showed that I can win also here.”

Johan Lidman started the event with the fifth place. At the end he took the second position. Lidman said: “What can I say, I am so happy for this result. Many people expected a good result and I was under the pressure. I am really glad to finished second, between two American riders.”

Third rider of the FIM Snowcross World Championship Cory Davis said: “I came to Sweden to give my best but I did not know how high I can finish. Third place is very good. The whole event was fantastic. Racing conditions were quite difficult, the visibility was getting worse at the end. It was nice to compete with all these riders.”

since we have gotten to osterlund, we have just been working on the sled and did a bit of testing today on it, tomorrow we head to Marlo where the race is held and park and check in etc...

so far i have taken some pictures with my new camera and a few video shots but it really has been mellow as far a scenic opportunities, hopefully on the way to race and my day in stockholm! but here is what i have some pics of my new lid for this race thanks to slednecks! and hcp designs!

x games, Farmington, filming, New Hampshire
man ive been slacking, again for more up to date results follow me on twitter, twitter.com/cdsix anyways....

x games was off to an awesome start we had 2 qualifiers i was in the first and won it with ryan in second so we where both direct into the final so we where pumped

(reppin the website!) ps thanks team mad

i lined up in a real good spot on the line, having the second choice and being right inside of tucker, but as soon as i took off i could tell something was wrong, got to the first corner good but the sled was just slow, ended up having some motor trouble and not being able to finish it was a bummer but at least i had a good first wrong AND ryan ended up with 3rd so bronze for him so not all bad!

next up we drove 3 days from aspen colorado to Farmington NY, i was really looking forward to this event because last year in the semi pro class i won both the stock and open classes, but that didn't last long, i rode like a turd lost alot of points and overall sucked!

i got a call from slednecks though saying they wanted to do some filming the week after Farmington so i loaded up with thacker and headed to tug hill NY. we meet up with Joe at Cedar Pines hes got a groomer and tons of trails and normally alot of snow but a little short this year but we made the best of it and even had a guy huck a jump on a 97 xlt polaris it was awesome, and btw he didn't make it! you'll see on the new slednecks 13 vid! haha I'm still laughing.

next up we have the nationals in salem NH, farthest east i've been it was pretty sweet, raced at a horse track (been doing that a lot lately) pro stock was looking ok, didn't qualify to good, got a bad start and in the 2nd corner got involved in a pile up and held up for almost a lap so pretty much a write off, determined to do better in open i rode hard qualified 5th and had a decent start, passed up to 3rd and actually had 2nd insight then my lines kinda fell apart, levi was coming hard on me and was pressuring me a lot the last 2 laps and actually passed me on the last lap, i passed him back down the back straight, in the last corner i jumped to far into the corner and he put a nice little block pass on me, but he went about 6 inches to far and i pretty much wheeled over the back of him and held onto 3rd, it was an awesome race and i had a blast!

Anyways now we are on the road to the next race in sarnia ontario! ill try to do a better job keeping ya updated thanks for stoping by! check back!!

I-500
what to say about the I-500, i rode hard and walked away with 6 stitches, a ripped track, a bent sled, and a tetanus shot. this was my longest cross country race, didn't really know what to expect i had alot of people telling me a lot of different things. i rode really safe the first day and paid for it i ended up 9th or something, the 2nd day i was pretty pissed, i was ready to throw it away haha. down from the leader (dj ekre) 7 something minutes i didn't see how it was possible to gain it back. needless to say i went out the 2nd day with vengeance i rode hard and hung it out a lot of times. leaving the last fuel stop i had 6 minutes on second place, about 7 miles from the finish something broke in my pipe and i thought and seemed like i was on one cylinder so i was only going 15-20 mph in a smooth ditch that everyone else was going over 100mph. i crossed the finish line only 3 minutes ahead of 2nd so i lost about 3 minutes or so. so with both times added up i was in 3rd place 16 secs behind 2nd and 22 secs behind 1st going into the 3rd and final day. well on the 3rd day stuff looked up, a little nervous but overal good. i passed 2nd place before we got off the river about 10 miles into the race, dj ekre (1st) pulled on me a bit but i was riding pretty safe. after the river we hoped on a gravel rode with little to know snow for 8 miles! never lifted the throttle for 8 miles! unreal, well right about at the end of the rode i hurd a whaap like i broke a belt, so i ripped my side panel off and nothing keep going and keep getting worse, i could feel it in my feet so i thought chian? but no keep going keep getting worse so i flipped it over and there it was, track was grenaded split in 2 places right down the middle......it was the worst feeling ive felt, i mean ive been passed on the last lap, the last corner, everything and nothing compares to when i say that track destroyed and everyone passing me. my heart dropped it sucked so bad. long story short , mine ryans simons, chad kyllo, dj ekre's tracks all went withen 5 miles of each other, still today i feel crappy bad taste in my mouth whatever you want to say it just plain out sucks, o my crash forgot about that, on the second say when i was cranking i was wide open in a full tuck down the ditch sled swapped and cartwheel side ways for ever!! it was nuts and i cut my wrist on the running board grippers, heres some pics, ill check back in soon hopefully with good news! KEEP ER PINNED

grafton 100 sweep!
last weekend i came home for the years first USCC cross country race, it was colder than heck but we made it work i won both pro classes it was awesome

the pro open was 2 laps about 24 miles, the track was pretty smooth very good visabilty, the pro stock class was 4 laps about 50 miles flat light, and alot ruffer but it was still awesome.

Grafton, ND (January 3, 2010) - The frigid temperatures during the Grafton Snow Drifter 100 Presented by CPS didn't slow Soldotna, Alaska's Cory Davis down as he swept the Pro classes at the USCC opening event in Grafton, North Dakota. A record turnout of racers awoke to -19 Fahrenheit on the thermometer and, despite blue skies and sun most of the day, temps struggled to get into the single digits below zero. In addition to the cold, riders battled snow dust because of the dry snow and later fought flat light conditions when clouds rolled in.

Davis started his run early in the day by winning the Fox Racing Shox Pro Open race with a two-lap time of 29:08.5 over the 12-mile course, 11.2 seconds ahead of second place rider D.J. Ekre, a fellow Arctic Cat rider and Davis' Christian Brothers Racing teammate. Polaris rider Aaron Christensen finished third (29:28.2) with Arctic Cat rider Brian Dick (29:46) in fourth and Gabe Bunke (Polaris, 29:46.7) and Ryan Simons (Arctic Cat 29:46.7) tied for fifth.

Davis stayed at the front in the four-lap FXR Pro 600 race besting Veteran Polaris rider Corey Davidson by almost a minute with a total time of 1:02:13.118 over Davidson's time of 1:03:10.294. The race was more of a sprint than a typical USCC Pro race as officials shortened the race due to fading light. Davis attacked the course and timing showed him pulling a lead on the field from the first lap. Davis' Christian Brothers Racing teammates Simons (1:03:44.309) and Ekre (1:03:51.153) finished third and fourth with Bunke (1:05:12.207) and Brian Dick (Arctic Cat, 1:05:12.207) rounding out the top six riders.

"It was a real nice day out and that made it easy for me to race, but later in the day it got a little junky," Davis said. "During the Pro 600 race it was hard to see in the ditches but I could see well on the river. Everything went awesome for me, my sled ran great, we had zero problems and the course had a ton markers and it was put together so it was really safe to run. It was just a great day."

Davis is a relative newcomer to the USCC results sheets having run just two races last year (though he did win the Munising event) but he stresses he's no newcomer to cross-country.

"I grew up riding like this in Alaska," he said. "Up there we just go and it's all about reading terrain."

Arctic Cat rider Chad Kyllo took the win ahead of 34 other riders in the ArcticFX Graphics Semi-Pro 600 class. Kyllo, a veteran rider and race mechanic logged a two-lap time of 32:17.3, almost 13 seconds ahead of second place Polaris rider Ken Christensen (32:30.2). Jeremy Tulenchik took third (Arctic Cat, 33:00.3).

Bryce Buchanan set a blazing fast two-lap time of 32:03.2 to win the Brothers Motorsports Expert 85 class, eight seconds ahead of fellow Cat rider Dave Dirkman and a whopping 29 seconds ahead of third place Arctic Cat rider Jason Kangas. Buchanan also won the Arctic Cat Expert 85 Improved class with a one-lap time of 16 minutes, 5.3 seconds ahead of second place rider Logan Christian.

Chris Klie won the Yamaha Sport 85 class with a time of 34:05.7, a good 48 seconds ahead of second place rider Marty Feil and over a minute ahead of third place rider Timmy Kallock. Combined, the three 85 horsepower classes boasted a total of 62 entries.

The opening event on the eight-race USCC schedule, the Grafton 100 boasted 150 riders and 265 race entries, more than any previous USCC event, and is an indication of the continued resurgence in cross-country racing.

"I remember standing in a field with 50 guys back in the early days," Said USCC President Pat Mach. "We've come a long way, our numbers are growing every year and we're seeing more and more young guys coming out to race. It sure looks like cross-country is making a strong comeback."

Other class winners included Ryan Faust (Polaris) AMSOIL Semi-Pro Improved;
Ken Christensen (Polaris) Stud Boy Masters 40+; Jay Ilstrup (Ski-Doo) Woody's Sport 600; Eric Dahl (Ski-Doo) C&A Pro Sport 600 Improved; Luke Perrault (Arctic Cat) Orion Industries Trail; Corey Davidson (Polaris) RV Sports Vet 30+; C.J. Vandeputte (Arctic Cat) TekVest Junior 14-17; Jolene Bute (Arctic Cat) Powermadd Women's; Ryan Trout (Ski-Doo) Carver Performance Junior 10-13; Nathan Lorentz (Arctic Cat) 120 Stock; Scott McColl (Arctic Cat) Snow Goer 120 Improved.

Up next for USCC is the Red Lake I-500 January 15-17, 2010. The Red Lake I-500 is the first race in the Seven Clans Casino 7-7-7 Challenge. For more info and complete race results visit www.usccracing.com.

Milwaukee update
drove all day back from milwaukee this morning about a 10 hr drive so brutal! but back in fertile now, ganna enjoy a nice sleep, wake up help the boys unpack and then i got to pack up for the holidays i fly home tuesday out of the twin cities

ok weekend update: on friday for pro stock i qualified front row i think 7th i had ok rounds i went 3, 4. brett bender got peeled off his sled right in front of me, so i had to pretty much let everyone go and drive around him, i ended up 10th in that final pretty frustrating the pro class is so competitive u really need a dynamite start and i didn't have that ha!

on saturday nite for the pro open i also went 3 and 4 in the rounds, qualified 9th, i got pushed wide in the first corner and came out in last place, i refused to end up there i pretty much just looked ahead and found the guy in front of me and just worked on reeling him in, then onto the next guy, i managed to get back to 6th place so im pretty happy with that race felt good to pick off guys.

here are some pics from this weekend courtesy of MIKE ZEIBERT
